ANTIQUE CLOCKS: DO BRAND NAMES PROVIDE MORE VALUE TO YOU?

The answer to that which I have postulated is a yes. If there ever were one company that would be considered a brand name, a name in the world of antique clocks for the discerning mantel clock connoisseur of valuable clocks, then that would be Raingo Freres, of Belgium, founded in 1823 by Zacharie Raingo and his four sons, with Victor being the most prominent. Many museums house their mantel clocks, including the Victoria Museum in Australia.

Antique Clocks by Raingo Freres

Raingo Freres produced much more than the typical gilded bronze antique clock. Their works included wall clocks, such as the one in the Victoria Museum, and table clocks, as well as excelling in exquisite crafting of mantel clocks featuring beautiful Sevres porcelain inserts and dials, displaying their mastery of porcelain artistry. The image here is of an early 1800s Mantel clock with said porcelain features in the Louis 16 style. It features porcelain inserts in several locales as well as a very pretty porcelain dial and topper. The set also features matching candelabras.
